etsy love today: pop chart lab

I'm kinda geekin out over these great prints from Pop Chart Lab. This Brooklyn design collective has put a modern twist on text book charts. From rap names, to beer to the history of Apple, there is something that can catch your attention. I love the thought and humor that is put into these plus they're a great show piece. This would be a perfect conversation piece to hang in your office or a great guy gift for the gamer, comic book lover, beer aficionado, techy, music lover, or chef. Check them out on etsy or there is even more on their website.

1. Grand Taxonomy of Rap Names
2. The Very, Very Many Varieties of Beer
3. The Illustrious Omnibus of Superpowers...love this name!
4. Pie Charts (A Bakers Dozen)
5. A Splendiferous Array of Culinary Tools
6. The Insanely Great History of Apple

all photos from pop chart lab on etsy. thanks!

typewriter: a noble cause i think

I have recently found a new respect/love for the good ol' typewriter. I know it's not practical but how cool is this lovely red Royal typewriter? I don't know if it's the technology era of touch screen, admiration for Mad Men or the impeccable design of these beauties but it makes me want one of my own. Well the lovely ladies of Uppercase Magazine have gathered some amazing typewriter swag and compiled a book using these great ads. So the only hitch is that Uppercase is still working to publish this gem and need your help...so check this out and hopefully we can all get a copy of The Typewriter: a Graphic History of the Beloved Machine soon!

I love these great old school ads, man they don't make em' like this anymore!
all photos & ads are kindly taken for use from Uppercase Magazine. thanks.

aces in helvetica, yes please!

So here's a little tidbit, 90% of the time I have a deck of cards with me...just in case someone is up for playing, I'm always game. I love these CMYK, Helvetica cards- fun, cool & easy to find in the game closet (or the bottom of my purse). I found these in my inbox from fab.com, you can check them out here.

beautiful design + beer = love

Hammerpress is an amazing letterpress company out of Kansas City. Their work is unique, distinct and uses lots of vintage hand-set type. I have loved this company for as long as I can remember and today when I stumbled on the Hammerpress-Boulevard Brewing Company Collaboration, I had to show it off. This beer was created for Savor 2012: an american craft beer & food experience in Washington D.C. (unfortunately only 5000 labels were created & I don't think we'll get a taste of it in the near future). This label is a work of art and I'm sure the beer is tasty too from this great brewery. See the label design process here. Don't you just love a good collaboration?

enjoy some hand lettering

I have mentioned the talented artist, Lisa Congdon, in a couple posts. Well I wanted to show off one of my favorite daily posts. Lisa is posting hand lettering every day on her blog, lisacongdon.com/blog. It's not easy to keep this up for 365 days but every day is a little surprise. She keeps it interesting with some great quotes, sweet illustrations and some lovely letters. Here are some of my favorites.

the olympics: converse style

Check out the new Chuck Taylor country series. I love the Chucks and thought this was way cooler than the other Olympic fashion out there plus I love the designs. Also if you haven't check out the Converse website lately, you need to Create your own pair ! My Chuck-loving friends have been telling me to do this for awhile and I can see how you can get hooked! Here's the Chuck's I created just for me.
